I've just given my new occasional webcomic 'The Call of Cthrnwall' a proper home with Blogger (at least until I can find the time to learn Wordpress and it's templates properly). You can now discover many strange things Cornish & weird over at cthrnwall.blogspot.co.uk.

Been delighted to be asked to provide a couple of pages for an upcoming issue of The Psychedelic Journal of Time Travel (successor to the historic Dr WTF?! anthologies) by the erstwhile editor and small press power house Owen Watts (@crazyfoxmachine ).

Work continues apace on Dana Larsen's epic 12 issue pot pastiche, Hairy Pothead, for eventual publication in Canada. Currently working on issue #4 and I'm two thirds through the pencils on a 32 page book, so thought I'd share some of the pages so far.

Really enjoying working in my 'new' studio set up the last few weeks. Same set up as the old one, but with my beloved animator's board revamped and revitalised thanks to the support of my engineer and jack-of-all-trades father and his trusty wood router. I still think of it as the same board, even though it's just the stand and perspex disc that remain!

I'm not a great one for reworking old images but this is one I've intended for a while to do more justice to than my initial attempt a couple of years ago, with the intention of beginning a series of limited edition art prints for sale on a vaguely steampunk-cum-monsterish theme. This one's a special portrait commission for an old and dear friend of mine who has gracioulsy allowed me to display it as a portfolio piece, and I'm putting it up here so that she can have a first glimpse of the finished art before I take it down to the printers later in the week. Really pleased to be asked as having turned in the six page prologue I didn't actually get the chance to pen the hero himself, so this was a fun way to spend a Sunday. Seven hours in Manga Studio :)

Just completed a portrait this week of the genial hosts of my favourite cafe and coffee hang out down here in Cornwall, over in the market town of Bodmin.

Time for something original! I've been so keen to get to grips with Manga Studio and the Bamboo stylus since New Year that I've just been reworking some old pieces from the original pencils while I've been learning the basics; too much of a hurry to work up something new. The learning and playing with Manga Studio continues a pace. I'm still warming up before I'm ready to tackle any of my commercial work in MS4, but it's already busted masses of the limitations I've experienced working digitally in the past.

I'm discovering a lot to enjoy about working with MSex4, but apart from the pen sets and extensive range of rulers and curves, the fact that it allows me to spin my 'canvas' whilst inking and painting is a real delight.
