Mike Lynch's BlackStar book from Abandoned Comics is near ready for print and as an  extra Mike asked if I'd work up a pin up to include in the end pages. Really pleased to be asked as having turned in the six page prologue I didn't actually get the chance to pen the hero himself, so this was a fun way to spend a Sunday. Seven hours in Manga Studio :)

Latest comic book art... BlackStar!

Thought I'd share some of the full page art for the 'prequel' to Mike Lynch's BlackStar origin story I completed at the end of last year. I've posted all the art over on the comics page of my portfolio site (minus text of course, we want you to go and buy the title to get the full story!). Not sure what the print date is for this yet as the rest of the book is being handled by another artist...news here as and when it happens and over on the Abandoned Comics site.

BlackStar done and dusted...

Polished off the artwork and lettering for Mike Lynch's BlackStar prologue/prequel story this afternoon. I illustrated a two page tale of Mike's last year, in the second issue of Dr WTF?! (P1 + P2), and it's been great to have the fun of a full six pages from him to illustrate this time around. Here's a screenshot of the bottom half of page 5.

I'm not sure of the print schedule for the complete book, but you can find more details of that and all Abandoned Comics' other projects and award winning productions over on their site.

Digital copies of both issues of the Owen Watts engineered Dr WTF?! anthology are available over on the excellent new small press Comicsy website.

More BlackStar bobbins....

A panel or two from BlackStar from Mike Lynch and Abandoned Comics...they've been very nice and very patient over me finding a chance to fit this in for them. Hope they'll still find it worth the wait when the last four pages are coloured up. Very pleased with how it's turning out; lots of exploring 'retro' colour palettes and then throwing them out the window again.

BlackStar pencils...

Just finished the last page of pencils for Mike Lynch's prequel to his BlackStar series at Abandoned Comics; inks, colours and words to follow.

Also, Abandoned's vampire title "Nestor" has been desrvedly nominated for a dollop of categories in this year's Irish Comic News. Well worth adding your vote to, you can follow the link to the awards here.

Some sketchbook ideas for a  five six page story I'll be working on for Mike Lynch this year. It's an 'origins' prologue for an exciting new SF title Mike is producing which arcs between 1970s Roswell and present day Ireland... and it's got space monkies in it!!
